We first find records of our progenitor, Joseph Skinner and his wife, Mary Vivian Croutzon, in Virginia in 1766. Our next date is 1810 and Joseph and his family are in Belmont County, Ohio. His grandson, John Garrett Skinner and his wife Martha Young, moved west to Washington County, Iowa in 1855. John's son, William Andrew Skinner Sr. and his wife Margaret Jane McConahay packed up their family of 10 in two covered wagons and moved to Peabody, Kansas in 1896. From this point on we have documented proof of the births, marriages and deaths of this branch of the Skinners |
